MackSolo Team Update β Day 56 βοΈπ
Since he has entered the #African continent, it is, for now, all Hakuna Matata for Mack!!! ππͺπ
This morning he landed in #Nairobi, #Kenya and is almost a quarter of the way through his round-the-world journey βοΈ. On his way, he crossed the #Equator and had a lucky weather window βοΈ. Near the equator - where the trade winds meet - the intertropical convergence zone (the ITCZ nicknamed "the Itch" by aviators) often creates interesting weather patterns, especially in the afternoons.
Upon landing, Mack was enthusiastically welcomed by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority - KCAA, the flying school, lots of children but also 70 young aviators from The Young Aviators Club of Africa. Look at all those smiley faces!
Yaca has more than 60.000 members and hopes to nurture the next generation of aviators. It is YACAs' 16-year-old youth president, Semeiyan Le-Loina, receiving and hosting Mack. She is passionate about aviation and recently completed her hobby drone pilot training. Now, do youngsters make a difference or not? π§πΌπ¦π½π§βπ¦±π©πΎ πͺβοΈ
No doubt, Mack will also be paying a visit to one of the oldest aviation clubs on the continent. The Aero Club of East Africa was established in 1927 and its walls have, without doubt, heard many "Indiana-Jones-meets-Wilbur-Smith meets-crocodile-Dundee" epic stories (might some perhaps be slightly exaggerated? π
π€ͺπ).
Sharky on the other hand is having some maintenance and TLC ("Tender Loving Care") thanks to ALS based at Wilson Airport. She βοΈπ¦ is even going to look spic and span after a well deserved π π! Thank you ALS π!
