We would like to tell you about an island 🏝. Not Easter Island though as it's not on Mack's route, but Rodrigues Island one of the world's most remote inhabited islands which lies some 600 km East of mainland Mauritius.
What does this have to do with Mack and why would his route lead to a tiny island in the middle of nowhere?
Well, to achieve a Round-The-World record ✈️ 🌍, #Guinness requires to pass via two #antipodal points on Earth. Practically, it means that if you were to pierce a skewer through an orange 🍊, the point in and the one back out would be your two antipodal points. Guinness needs to greenlight ✅ these points (and the route) before setting off.
So what is Mack's second antipodal point? Another tiny island, called Isla Socorro, in Mexico.
For comparison, what were Zara's antipodal points? At first, they were Tumaco, Colombia, and Jambi, Indonesia... Unfortunately, due to weather, Zara only reached as far as #Quibdo, in #Colombia. She, therefore, had to adapt her second antipodal point accordingly and receive confirmation from Guinness that they agreed with a swap from Jambi, to Jakarta.
Hopefully, only a couple more days and Mack will be on his way to #Africa again and one step closer to #Rodrigues and his first antipodal. All fingers and toes crossed everyone!🤞 😅
